    1. Privacy Agreement

    Federal and state law requires us to tell you how we collect, use, share, and protect your personally identifiable information. Federal law also limits how we can use your personally identifiable information. In this Privacy Policy, we simply call it “personal information”. Protecting the privacy and security of customers’ personal information is very important to us. RidgeviewTel adheres to the US Safe Harbor Privacy Principles of Notice, Choice, Onward Transfer, Security, Data Integrity, Access and Enforcement. This Privacy Policy is part of the Residential Customer Agreement and the Business Customer Agreement, one of which you signed at the time of initiating your service. We may change our Privacy Policy without notice; however, if we change our policy to allow use or disclosure of personal information in a way that, in our sole determination, is materially different from that stated in our policy at the time the data was collected, we will post notice of the change on our website.If we propose to use personal information for any purposes other than those described in this Privacy Policy and/or in service-specific privacy notices, we will offer you an effective way to opt out of the use of personal information for those other purposes. We will not collect or use sensitive information for purposes other than those described in this Privacy Policy and/or in the supplementary service privacy notices, unless we have obtained your prior consent. support@ridgeviewtel.com.

    2. Personally Identifiable Information
    Defined. The information collected by RidgeviewTel falls into two categories: (a) information voluntarily supplied by you as you use/visit this website, and (b) tracking information recorded as you navigate through the website. Some of this information is personal information, but much of it is not.

    “Personally identifiable information” is information that identifies a particular person, such as your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, customer correspondence and communications records, as well as other information when it is combined with your personally identifiable information. “Financial Information” includes things such as your payment method, credit card number and expiration date. “Non-personally-identifiable information” includes data such as your browser type, your operating system, web pages visited, time of visits, content viewed, ads viewed, and other click stream data.

    With respect to your phone services, we collect and maintain information such as your location of service, technical configuration of service, type of service, quantity of service, amount of use of service, calling patterns and other information contained on your bill for local and long distance services. This is called “CPNI”, or customer proprietary network information.

    In this Privacy Policy, any information we collect from you is generally called “personal information”.

    When it is Collected. Each time you send us a request or an e-mail, sign up for a promotion, or otherwise voluntarily transmit information to us, RidgeviewTel may obtain and collect personal information. When you order RidgeviewTel products or services, you must provide both personally identifiable information and financial information. In connection with the standard operation of the website, certain non-personally identifiable information about visitors to this website is recorded. This information is used primarily to tailor and enhance visitors’ experience using the website. We automatically track certain information based upon your behavior on the website, such as your browser, IP address and URL history. CPNI is collected as a routine business matter in order to provide phone service to you.

    Technology Used to Collect Information. We collect information when you complete forms, and also via cookies and by following IP addresses.

    Cookies: “Cookies” are a standard feature on your web browser. They store small amounts of data on your computer about your visit to this website. Cookies assist us in tracking which of our features appeal the most to you and what content you may have viewed on past visits. When you visit this website again, cookies can enable us to customize our content according to your preferences. For instance, we may use cookies to keep track of the number of return visits to this website, accumulate and report aggregate, statistical information on website usage, deliver specific content to you based on your interests or past viewing history, and save your password for ease of access to our website. Without cookies, you will not be able to take advantage of the personalized features enjoyed by other visitors to and users of our website. We use cookies to help us tailor our website to your needs, to deliver a better, more personalized service, and to remember certain choices you’ve made so you don’t have to re-enter them.

    IP Addresses: You have a unique Internet Protocol “address” which is assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider. For LAN, DSL, or cable modem users, an IP address may be permanently assigned to a particular computer. (IP addresses are automatically logged by Web servers, which collect information about a user's traffic patterns.) Your IP address can reveal what geographic area you are connecting from, or which Internet Service Provider you are using. While the IP address does not identify an individual by name, it may, however, with the cooperation of your Internet Service Provider, be used to locate and identify an individual using the web. Other websites you visit have IP addresses, and we may collect the IP addresses of those websites and their pages.

    3. Use of Information

    RidgeviewTel will use and share with others your personal information for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy, including but not limited to:

    CPNI

    With respect to your phone services, we collect and maintain information such as your location of service, technical configuration of service, type of service, quantity of service, amount of use of service, calling patterns and other information contained on your bill for local and long distance services. This is called “CPNI”, or customer proprietary network information. The notifications in this section are in addition to the uses and disclosures provided throughout this Privacy Policy. We respect and are committed to protecting the privacy of your CPNI. If we have obtained your CPNI as a result of your phone services, it may not be used by us to market additional products and services unless you specifically approve that we may contact you for that purpose. We will disclose to others your personal information in connection with features and services such as Caller ID, 911/E911 and directory services, for example:

  • Caller ID devices, unless you have it blocked. Caller ID blocking does not work in all cases, including calls to certain businesses and emergency numbers such as 911, 900, 800, 888, 877, and 866;
  • Public safety answering points and other authorities for their emergency support services, emergency databases, “reverse 911” systems and troubleshooting thereof;

  • Although we strive to ensure that non-published and unlisted numbers are not included in these above distributions, sometimes there may be errors in such withholding.

    4. Sharing of Information

    RidgeviewTel only shares personal information with other companies or individuals outside of RidgeviewTel in the following limited circumstances:

  • We have your consent. By using our services or accessing our website, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please navigate away now, and discontinue use of our website and our services.

  • We provide such information to our subsidiaries, affiliated companies or other trusted businesses (by way of example, credit card processors and outsource partners) or other entities for the purpose of processing personal information on our behalf. We require that these parties agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

  • If RidgeviewTel becomes involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of our assets, we will transfer your information, and it may become subject to a different privacy policy.

  • We have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, (b) enforce your Residential Customer Agreement or Business Customer Agreement, including investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, or (d) protect against imminent harm to the rights, property or safety of RidgeviewTel, its users or the public as required or permitted by law.

  • Every computer connected to the Internet is assigned a unique number known as an Internet protocol (IP) address. Since these numbers are usually assigned in location-based blocks, an IP address can often be used to identify the area from which a computer is connecting to the Internet. This information can be used by governmental authorities or RidgeviewTel for legal purposes such as tracing criminal acts and responding to emergencies.

  • We may share with third parties certain pieces of aggregated, non-personal information, such as the number of users who searched for a particular term, for example, or how many users clicked on a particular advertisement. Such information does not identify you personally.

    5. Security of Your Data
    Monitoring the Service

    RidgeviewTel has no obligation to monitor your use of our e-mail, Internet or VoIP service, but we are permitted to do so, and to disclose information regarding your use if we, in our sole discretion, believe that it is reasonable to do so. RidgeviewTel may immediately remove your material or information from our servers, in whole or in part, which RidgeviewTel, in our sole and absolute discretion, determines to infringe another's property rights or to violate your Customer Agreement or this Privacy Policy.

    Security, File Sharing
    RidgeviewTel service uses the public Internet, the public switched telephone network and third party networks to transmit voice and other communications. Because the Internet is a public facility, there is a risk that a user could be subject to eavesdropping. This means that other users may be able to access and monitor our customers’ utilization of our services. This risk of eavesdropping exists not only with RidgeviewTel’s infrastructure, but also on the Internet generally. Because of this risk, any sensitive or confidential information sent by you is sent at your sole risk, and we shall have no liability whatsoever for any claims, losses, actions, damages, suits, or proceedings arising out of or otherwise relating to such actions by any user.

    Security of Your Data
    Your information may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which RidgeviewTel or its affiliates, subsidiaries or agents maintain facilities, and by using this website or our services, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country. We use procedural and technical safeguards to protect your personal information against loss or theft as well as unauthorized access and disclosure to protect your privacy, including encryption, and firewalls. We employ many different security techniques to protect such data from unauthorized access by users inside and outside the company. However, perfect security does not exist on the Internet, and we cannot guarantee that transmissions will not be intercepted. If you don’t want us to know any particular information about you, don’t include it in anything that you submit to our website or send to us in e-mail.

    Local Area Network (LAN)
    Each customer is a node on the wireless network. As such, users outside our customers’ home or place where we provide our services may be able to access your computer. It is important that you take appropriate steps to protect your information from being accessed by others. To this end, we encourage customers to acquire a firewall, utilize virus protection, and implement other security measures that you deem necessary to protect the integrity of the data on your computer. In addition, some software includes capabilities that permit other users across a network, such as the service and the Internet, to gain access to a user’s computer and to the software, files, and data stored on the computer. Operating systems can include file sharing and print sharing capabilities which, when enabled, will permit other users to gain access to a customer’s computer even if the customer is not using our service. Notwithstanding the foregoing recommendations, you hereby acknowledge and agree that your use of our service is at the your own risk, and RidgeviewTel shall not have any liability whatsoever for any claims, losses, actions, damages, suits, or proceedings arising out of or otherwise relating to such use by you.

Those other websites have privacy policies and practices we don't control. Once you leave our website by linking to another one (you can tell where you are by checking the address, known as a “URL”, in the location bar on your browser), use of any information you provide is governed by the privacy policy of the operator of the website you are visiting. Advertising network providers use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies on the hard drive of your computer to serve you advertisements or tailored to interests you have shown by browsing on this and other websites you have visited, and also to help determine whether you have seen a particular advertisement or content before and in order to avoid sending you duplicates.
